Wheeler aims to get Mets first win

Published by Keith Gendron

Zach Wheeler makes his season debut today facing the Nats and Jordan Zimmerman. The Mets have lost the first 2 games of 2014, 9-7 and 5-1. The team has struck out a record 31 times in the first 2 games and hope this trend is halted today.
Wheeler was 7-5 and 3.42 last season after being promoted in July. Hopefully, he can go seven today as the bullpen has showed no ability to shut down the Nationals thus far.
After todays matinee, the Mets open a 3 game series with the Cincinnati Reds coming to town. Jenrry Mejia will get the ball Friday, Dillon Gee makes his 2nd start Saturday and Jon Niese on Sunday.
